Coronavirus on the Nile: Twelve months of COVID-19 in Egypt in graphs

Another monthly post as part of the COVID-19 coverage in Egyptian Chronicles.

This time it is a quick look into COVID-19 numbers in Egypt after twelve months since its arrival to the country in February 2020. Yes, it has been a year.

One hell of a year.

Now before I got into the graph, I must hint out that in January 2021 aka last month, minister of health Hala Zayed admitted once that the numbers of coronavirus situation in Egypt released by the ministry officials are less than the real numbers.

She stated the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases.

Zayed also revealed later that Egypt's Ministry of Health has organized 64,000 visits to coronavirus patients who are self-isolating at homes and provided medication to 17,000 cases during the month of January.

According to the statement, we had not less than 17,000 cases in January plus those admitted in the official hospitals whom the ministry counts.

Now to our graphs and comparisons.

January 2021 recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases “27,895 cases” admitted to hospitals and officially registered since June 2020 “43,326 cases”

There is a 26%-increase in January 2021 “27,895 cases”  from December 2020 “22,151 cases”

When it comes to fatalities, unfortunately, January 2021 recorded the highest number of coronavirus fatalities “1685 cases” since July 2020 “1852 cases”

Unfortunately, there is a 72%-increase in January 2021 “1,685 cases” from December 2020 “981 cases”

January 2021 recorded the highest number of recovered coronavirus cases “17,531 cases” since July 2020 “21,178 cases”

There is an 87%-increase in January 2021 “17,531 cases” from December “9,387 cases”

These numbers show how the numbers were high in January madly.

Again, these numbers are based on the numbers released by the Egyptian Ministry of health, whose numbers are less than the numbers officially according to the minister herself.

Here is the Daily coronavirus case count in the past 12 months.

Here is also the Daily fully recovered patients case count.

I could not share them because it is wider than the post’s width in the blog simply.

Stay well, stay safe.
