President Mubarak announced today in is visit to Upper Egypt Governorate No.29 : Luxor.
Yes we have become 29 governorates in Egypt now. We expected this move from Mubarak sooner not later as Luxor was more than a city in Qena , general Samir Farg was given powers more than a mayor or a head of city council , he was really a governor without a governorate but he is a governor of a very important governorate now. “By the way this man can be head something much bigger in the future”
Anyhow Luxor has become a governorate with two following cities : Armant and Esna. There is no big surprise as I referred , of course his sudden decision will cause chaos in Armant and Esna beside other towns and villages following Luxor now as it happened in the cities which suddenly woke up one day and found themselves following newly found 6th of October an d Helwan governorates.
BY the way when I looked at the map I began to wonder what is exactly left to Qena !!?? Esna is in the south where as Armant and Luxor are in the North !!
Back to again to the fact of the day : Egypt now is 29 governorates :)
And from the old good days , enjoy some old scenes from Luxor in the 19 and 20 centuries from L’ Egypte d’ antan

I think you should consider taking some grammar lessons, espeically if you plan to go into journalism. I hope this is not taken as an insult, but constructive critcism- you're writing style is immature, and it makes you lack credibility.
ReplyDeleteI have fully admired and respected SAMIR FARAG since his opera presidency.
ReplyDelete@Anon, read at what u ve written yourself and i think u should take spelling and grammar lessons! if you dont like Z's lacking grammars, just buzz off and find another blog that is up to your standard!

ReplyDeleteas an egyptian who can't read arabic Z is one of a few sources available for me! Z is a gifted journalist and sleuth who has a natural knack for picking up on stories that the daily new egypt and other egyptian/english portals simply neglect!
while her political views may bother me (you will come around isa.) I do appreciate the monstrous effort she puts into every story!
her use of egyptian/arabic idioms in english puts a smile on my face----tx Z!
I wish there was some planning before declaring that. Why cant mubarak communicate that type of decision properly to his ministers and governors and preparatory steps taken leading to the turning Luxor to the 29th mo7afza? Its a good decision and was about time but just like the story of 6th October mo7afza it lacks on planning and proper governance. Also, I wish some experts are brought in to help redesign the limits of each Mo7afza to maximize the ability of governors to make the best our of the available lands and resources. Please we need less central plans and more planning on the level of each mo7afza, we want options other than Cairo and Giza.
