We do not need that kind of support !! "Updated"

"I updated this post based on the correction Washington Post published later. I apologize for Ahmed Maher for my attack , already I am surprised that the WP's journalist  mix between Ahmed Maher and Ahmed Salah in this way "
Washington Post published very interesting new on March 1,2011 : Ahmed Salah of 6th April was in the States seeking Obama’s administration’s support!!
What kind of help Salah is asking from the Americans !!? Is he asking the Americans to have some pressure on the AFC !!? is he asking the Americans to help us in the constitution or what !!?
One of the things that we did not like and refused in the Mubarak regime that it was the West and the States’ puppet , we do not want to be followers to anybody , anymore as we should only follow our best interest.
Well I am sorry but if Salah "with my all due respect to him” listened to that former Islamist Judge for once , he may know our true liberal history and would not ask the Americans for help but unfortunately our young people think that our nation is too young as it had this independence last week !!! I think being liberal means listening and respecting others’ views not to seek help for abroad at the first problem like little children !!
And honestly I trust Tarek El-Bishry more than Salah now and I swear when the AFC chose him , I knew that there will be better future for the country because this is a real respectable thinker who does not change his principles like Dr. Yahia El-Gamal.
I have never entered this debate about the Egyptian activists and their relation with the States but this time I feel that I am offended myself. I respect the Americans and for sure we need their support but not that kind of support.
Salah is giving a golden opportunity to the counter revolution with these stupid moves , yes these are stupid unneeded moves. In the past weeks already the 6th April was under huge fire from conspiracy theorists who are attacking it along with Dr. ElBaradei spreading theories about them and it has made and is still making me so angry. Yes Salah has left 6th April youth but the counter revolution media does not recognize that.
Since reading this news yesterday and I could not ignore the matter , I just could not and I am so furious.

  2. Like your point of view a lot.. but while checking the new the article on WashingtonPost site I found this update:

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post incorrectly identified Ahmed Saleh as Ahmed Maher. Both were founders of the April 6th movement, but Saleh has since left the organization. Ahmed Maher has not visited Washington.

  3. I have nothing against Maher, but am not sure why you are surprised by his visit. It is clear from wikileaks cables, such as the one from dec 2008 released on Jan 31,2011, and other articles written in the past few weeks that maher was closely in touch with us government officials and detailing his plans and those of the activists to overthrow the regime with them. I can only deduce from this that he has had their support or sought it all along???

  4. The WaPo has apparently published a correction (at the top of the article you link to) indicating that it was actually Ahmed Salah, not Ahmed Maher. Nevertheless, your point is well taken and important to share. Just because he hasn't gone to Washington doesn't mean that Washington hasn't come to him.

  5. Haha, the Washington Post's incompetent hack reporter Jackson Diehl interviewed Salah and still f*cked his name up. What a doofus.

@Z, what's the AFC? Army something Council? You can't mean American Football Conference.

  6. Yes, that's actually a crucial error especially when it comes from the WP ...

But the question still remains: how did this Ahmed Salah manage to get appointments with the US State department and the white house ? and why did they agree to meet with him without him being THE leader of 6 April (if this is true, because you never know if Ahmad Salah is really negociating with them or just claiming to be doing so :-))...

That's the "liberal history" that was on display in Terror Square as thousands of your revolutionaries stood around and watched Lara Logan being gang raped?

...but unfortunately our young people think that our nation is too young as it had this independence last week !!!

Yeah, I agree. It has nothing to do with your nation being too young. It's got more to do with your people being ignorant, racist and uncivilized.

I think you aren't qualified to comment about what "liberal" means, and I think you aren't entitled to any kind of help at all from the United States. President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton have both demanded justice be done in the case of the Lara Logan atrocity and have been met with silence. You're lucky your country even continues to have diplomatic relations with the US at all, and God willing your luck in that area will run out sometime soon.
