Even The CBE Governor Can't Change History

I have noticed something especially last month , the six days war month ; our media has completely forgotten about Abdel Hakim Amar and his responsibility in that humiliating defeat.
Tarek Amar

Does Tarek Amar , the CEO of NBE have a hand in this matter !!?? Tarek Amar is the nephew of Abdel Hakim Amar and despite being the youngest public bank CEO ever, he proved that he is successful . As one of the most powerful bankers in the Egyptian financial world and as a faithful proud Upper Egyptian , I know that Amar will use his power to enhance the negative public perception about his family in all possible ways. He is the already the second public figure in the Amar family after his controversial uncle.
Tarek Amar is proud of his uncle whom he believes that he was a hero who paid the price for loving Egypt according to an interview I read from a while ago. If you want to see this pride in action , then you can go back to his feud with Adel Hamouda , the chief in editor who wrote in his column that Tarek will lead NBE to defeat just like his uncle in the six days war. The feud with Hamouda moved to courts and Hamouda apologized to him afterwards officially. Professionally I believe Hamouda crossed his line by all means in his harsh criticism.
I began to think about this possibility when I found Abdullah Kamal speaking about Abdel Hakim Amar as a hero when he commented boldly and rudly about the 1967 POWs !!
Amar and Nasser
Aside from Wafd newspaper which naturally hates Nasser and blames him for the six days war , I do not think that both men were innocent or free from accountability. Nasser made a huge mistake when he insisted on having inexperienced Amar as minister of war even after his fiascos in 1956 Suez War , the Egyptian-Syrian unity and the Yemen war besides of course his deadly sinful decisions in the pre-six days war. Still we have to admit that Amar was too damn popular in the army that Nasser himself feared that his friend would lead a coup against him if he wanted to , at the end and as result of war on the throne , We lost not only Sinai but also Jerusalem. "I will not even going to discuss the Syrian front because what happened there in 1967 is not our responsibility nor Nasser's responsibility at all"
Amar had the opportunity to make a good strong army and fight back if he wanted too but instead he indulged himself with his crazy rock star life which was not the fake product of Nasser propaganda machine unlike what his family tries to convince the people now. It is enough to see who were the men of Amar to know what kind of person he war.
If I were Tarek Amar , I would put aside my Upper Egyptian pride and just try to make the people forget my uncle and focus in to my achievements so one day people will say : could not Abdel Hakim be like his young nephew !!??
Both men are equally guilty in front of Egypt , yes history is written by the winner and in the 1967 none of them had won but it was Egypt who had lost.

The First Mass Shooting Incident in Egypt !!

This is for sure the first mass shooting incident in Egypt ; a driver working in Arab Contractors company has opened his fire killing 6 and injuring 16 of his coworkers !!
The incident happened in the bus which he was driving at the Misr-Asuit agricultural highway . He was supposedly driving the workers from 15th May area in Cairo governorate to Abu Nomrs area in 6th October governorate !!
The early reports say that he killed and injured those people because he was transferred !! The shooter did not commit suicide and was arrested while the injured were transferred to the hospital.
Taking a gun to your work in that way means that you have planned to the whole thing in advance , it is not a sudden reaction. Another thing , one must wonder how he got a gun in the first place , Egypt is not the United States and there are strict official rules to get a gun officially , of course unofficially you can buy a gun from Upper Egypt in no one time.
This is not Egypt nor these are not the Egyptians.
Updates
  • The death toll reached 8
  • The shooter will be facing : Intended murder and owning a machine gun
  • There are different stories about why the driver opened his fire :
  1. He was depressed because he was transferred to another branched "debunked by the company , the man's record has been clean for 24 years in the company.
  2. The salary of the shooter is not more than LE 300 despite the claims of company that his salary is LE1300 which is highly doubtful.
  3. He opened his fire due to arguments with some of his coworkers in the bus over antiquities excavation according to police investigations , it seems that he agreed to let two coworkers to excavate under his house.

Dear Abby Writes About ElBaradei

I am surprised that Dear Abby has left all the action in Sinai and is focusing on Dr. ElBaradei.

Dr. ElBaradei spoke to BBC Arabic last week with Hassan Mowad in a very strong interview. Mona El-Shazely is an angel compared to Mowad. You can watch the interview below :

If You Know They Are Going To Attack , Why Not to Prepare Yourself

Every year when the Six days war anniversary comes , new documents and information about that war changed the world not the Middle East region are revealed.

This year we found ourselves in front of new information that supports the Egyptian version of the event , we did not plan to attack Israel in fact according to the CIA reports in May 1967 our troops there were defensive.

Now the one million dollar question that we will never its answer : If Nasser knew that Israel was planning to attack us in that way , why he closed the straits of Tiran and gave Israel a justification to launch a war we were not ready for by all means.

There is also another question : Instead of the unorganized complete withdrawal order , why not to give orders to attack as there were locations and forces that were not destroyed and would have caused losses in the lines of the Israelis especially the later could not believe themselves.

Nasser's decisions in that war is a mystery for me , that is a man who knew the exact time of the war and yet he seemed to take all the wrong decisions that gave the Israelis a victory without a fight. Of course there was his soul brother who became his bitter enemy Abdel Hakim Amar , who was only good in leading a football league no more no less.

Khaled Said Case Follow Up : Important Developments in Important Case

There are many developments in the Khaled Said' case , right after the protests , the international angry reactions and the provoking leaks about the second autopsy we found the official coroner changing his statements and is speaking about the possibility that something could have been stuffed to Khaled's throat then came the big surprise of the weekend : The public prosecutor has ordered the arrest of the two police agents for further investigations.

Do not be so happy with that surprise so fast, if proven to be guilt , those two police agents will be jailed for 3 to 15 years only based on the official  charges they are facing are :

  1. Arrest with no right or warrant
  2. Excessive use of force

According to the public persecutor Khaled was not killed by those agents' hands but by his own hands because he swallowed the pot packet in to his throat the thing that led to suffocation. Khaled's family attorneys will use the law to change "the excessive use of force" to "intended murder"

Supporting A Friend In Time of Need

President Mubarak has visited today Algeria before heading to Paris , this historical visit came after very bad relations with Algeria after our football matches.

Mubarak has visited Algeria to pay his respect and condolences to president Boutaflika whose brother has died from couple of days ago. The two presidents met in France from couple of months ago to melt the ice resulted from a football game.
I wonder if Mubarak has brought his eldest son Alaa to Algeria.

Latitude 22

Hala'ib is Sudanese and will be ever Sudanese
Omar Al Bashir , the president of Sudan said so from three days ago in Port Sudan adding that he will discuss the issue of Hala'ib with the Egyptian regime. Egyptian FM Ahmed Abu El-Gait assured that Hala'ib is an Egyptian territory as our southern borders are well known to everybody latitude 22 and that it was closed issue yesterday.
From another hand an official Egyptian reaction on that has said to Al Shorouk Daily that there are attempts by some parties to create crisis in Sudan in these exceptional times.
Publicly the tribes of Hala'ib have expressed its total refusal to what Bashir has said.
The timing of this statement is interesting as it came right afterwards the bizarre statements of the new Sudanese foreign minister , Ali Karti. Egypt demanded a clarification after this statement and as far as I followed the matter we did not receive a good clarification ; the clarification actually was that statement by Al Bashir. If anyone else said these statements I would consider it an attempt to create a crack in the Egyptian-Sudanese position from the Nile river crisis but that was a presidential statement and even that foreign minister who does not know how much Egypt really is engaged in Sudan is a minister from Al Bashir's party !!
