This is dedicated to our foreign minister Ahmed Abu El-Gait : One member of the Egyptian embassy in London was accused of shoplifting in 2005.
Of course this is only accusation , we do not know if that member was actually guilty or not but at least it is better than human trafficking. Saudi Arabia diplomats were accused of human trafficking and sexual assault too !!
Please read the Guardian report about the crimes of diplomats in UK.
Why do these diplomats think they are in their countries where they can break the law as they want because they got diplomatic immunity !!??
The Guardian says the Americans owe £3,821,880 in back congestion charges but the Americans say they don't owe anything "based on the 1960 Vienna convention on diplomatic relations, which prohibits the direct taxation of diplomatic missions." That may be a reasonable view, and many other embassies in London take the same position as the Americans. Japan, Germany, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Cameroon, and Cote D'Ivoire agree with the Americans regarding the congestion charge.
ReplyDeleteI don't mean this to be too off-topic for your post, Z, but to me as an American it is annoying, unfair and typical of The Guardian to write an article mentioning in passing Gambian shoplifting, Russian drunk driving, Saudi human trafficking and sexual assault -- but to adorn their article prominently with an American flag under a "crime sprees" headline in 20 point type.
