Kodak Agfa presents : Fayoum’s Magic Lake 2017 in photos

This is the third post in a series of posts featuring my short visit in 2017 with my family to the amazing Fayoum governorate. "Warning: The photos may not be the best"

The first post in the series featured Lake Qaron aka Lake Moeries while the second post featured the Wadi El-Rayan waterfalls.

Now, this post is dedicated also to another amazing place in the Wadi El-Rayan protectorate.

We have not finished yet this protectorate.

Our next stop on that trip was at the Magic Lake region.

Coronavirus on the Nile: Twelve months of COVID-19 in Egypt in graphs

Another monthly post as part of the COVID-19 coverage in Egyptian Chronicles.

This time it is a quick look into COVID-19 numbers in Egypt after twelve months since its arrival to the country in February 2020. Yes, it has been a year.

One hell of a year.

Now before I got into the graph, I must hint out that in January 2021 aka last month, minister of health Hala Zayed admitted once that the numbers of coronavirus situation in Egypt released by the ministry officials are less than the real numbers.

She stated the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases.

Zayed also revealed later that Egypt's Ministry of Health has organized 64,000 visits to coronavirus patients who are self-isolating at homes and provided medication to 17,000 cases during the month of January.

According to the statement, we had not less than 17,000 cases in January plus those admitted in the official hospitals whom the ministry counts.

Now to our graphs and comparisons.

Happy Valentine's Day From Egyptian Museum of Cairo : From King Tut and Royal Wife

Happy Valentine’s Day from Egyptian Chronicles.

A little throwback to those days at the great, one and only Egyptian Museum of Cairo and the famous golden chair of King Tutankhamun depicting him and his royal wife Ankesenamun, which was found in his famous tomb

Ankesenamun, Tut’s half-sister was the daughter of Akhenaten and his Great Royal wife the beautiful Nefertiti.

This is one of the chairs depicting the Royal couple who once had their statues throughout the Egyptian kingdom before the era of the young king was ended and some attempted to erase his history.

Coronavirus on the Nile : A very #COVID19 Valentine or very #COVID19 exams

Happy Valentine's Day despite the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns as well as restrictions

Officially, the world is celebrating its first St. Valentine’s Day in the coronavirus lockdown and its drama.

The biggest loser if I may say is the businesses that turned this day into big profits season more than anyone.

Anyhow moving to things that really matter, it is unclear if we are going to have exams in Egypt for schools or universities or not with contradicted news reports and statements.

The officials say that the exams of the first semester will be held at schools and universities but students and parents are demanding the government and are sending pleas to the president to suspend the in-school exams and make it like last year aka “online researches”.

We are still waiting for the mass-vaccination to roll out in Egypt. It seems that they have not finished yet the medical teams.

Anyhow, here is our 15-days-Live-updates of everything coronavirus in the Arab world as much as I can.

Coronavirus on the Nile: Egypt’s COVID-19 January numbers in Graph

This is the time of our monthly post about the coronavirus pandemic and its numbers in graphs.

It is the first monthly post in 2021.

After December 2020 witnessed a leap in the cases of coronavirus in Egypt, January 2021 witnessed officially a decline in the numbers released by the Ministry of health, which I depend upon here.

Unofficially, there are indicators including the frantic search for beds for patients and the increase in cases of coronavirus in your circles.

Personally, our family had its first coronavirus fatality and I hope inshallah it will be the last.

It was my mom’s cousin who is older than her. A grandmother in her late 60s, she suffered from kidney disease already.

She could not find a bed in ICU in nearby hospitals in New Cairo and her condition detartrated.

When her family found a bed in a private hospital in Maadi, she had already a kidney failure and was put on a ventilator till the end.

May Allah bring patience to her family.

My direct cousin who is a young man in his twenties got coronavirus after spending the new year’s eve weekend in Taba.

Thankfully, it was mild and he recovered quickly.

Enough of the chat here are the numbers of January.

First, the daily cases of coronavirus in Egypt.

Coronavirus on the Nile : The Vaccines of February

Here we are in a new month aka February.

This month marks a whole year since the coronavirus officially arrived Cairo through a Chinese citizen working in a Chinese company in February 2020

After that, the rest is the history we have been living.

Anyhow in February 2021, Egypt is going to have wider vaccination campaigns.

Some related photo from Reuters

On Sunday, Cairo received its first shipment of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine which was officially granted by emergency approval by the Egyptian Drug Authority hours after its arrival from India.

This week will witness the arrival of another shipment of China’s Sinopharm vaccine which is already being used in the vaccination of Medical teams in the country.

We have not started yet the phase of citizens vaccination, which will kick off with the chronic disease patients followed by senior citizens.

Anyhow enough of the talk here is another post of two-weeks-live-updates of everything coronavirus.
