TV host Liliane Daoud deported to Lebanon !!! "Updated"

After hours of announcing that she ended her contract with ONTV on Tuesday, Lebanese-British TV Liliane Daoud host was arrested from her house in front of her little girl to be deported from Egypt.
Liliane was deported from Egypt later to Beirut where now she is staying with her family.

Earlier Monday , the famous TV host announced that she terminated her contract with ONTV.
Then later afternoon and according to her lawyer Zyad El-elaimy , 8 men claiming to be from the ministry of interior's Passports department  raided her house arresting her.
They did not let her contact anyone.
They forced her to leave with them in order to be deported.
Daoud had to leave her girl at her house where she was taken somewhere
It was unclear where or why she is detained for hours.

At nearly 11 PM Cairo local Time , El-eliamy who is also a renowned political activist and former MP announced that Liliane Daoud called him while she was on a board of a plane heading to Beirut !!

Aside from all the politics, Liliane is a mother of an Egyptian girl and has got a residence permit.
She is not a foreigner whose residence permit will expire as soon as she leaves her job in an Egyptian company !!!
At 1.30 AM Cairo Local Time, Liliane Daoud arrived  Beirut. Her pictures at the airport were released to the media. This is what she was wearing at her house when she was arrested.

Throwback World Refugees Day : Little Damascus street in October City

Earlier this week , the world celebrated  the World Refugees Day and on Friday the World woke up to the news that the people in the UK voted to leave and the refugees played a role in the decision that is turning Europe and the world upside down.
I will seize those opportunities to share my photos as well my short trip to that Little Damascus street in October city in Giza in March.
I went to one of the famous Syrian streets in October city for a work assignment, where a huge flourishing Syrian community is located since 2012.
In the suburbs of Giza governorates, October city has been a perfect location for Syrians just like Iraqis before them.
Already Syrians there told me that they found every kind of residence and rent that suit all classes. You will find villas in gated compounds for rich Syrians as well affordable rents for working-class Syrians.
Same thing for schools , from international expensive schools to the public schools where Syrian students are treated like Egyptians as Special Syrian schools made by Syrian associations in Egypt for young Syrians students.
When I tried to reach that street in October city , a Young Syrian man standing in another street gave me directions.
Located behind October University and Al-Hosary Mosque , that Syrians street is the most famous among the streets of October city owned by Syrians.
The  street is actually a passageway between building complex known in the area as "Al-Amerika" {The American} Building.
 Locals call it "Al-Amerika Mall"

It is located behind El-Hossary Mosque which has been a hot spot for Syrian refugees since 2012 as its charity association provide help to them.
Only four shops and cafes are reportedly owned by Egyptians throughout the Passageway full of Syrian restaurants selling popular food at affordable prices , cafes , barbershop and even mobile phones shops.

Tiran and Sanafir isles are Egyptian by the Court order

And a Cairo administrative ruled out earlier Tuesday that the Egyptian-Saudi deal to redraw maritime borders is void and that Tiran and Sanafir red sea isles are Egyptian.
In other words , human rights lawyer Khaled Ali and his team won the lawsuit against the Egyptian government in a historical verdict.

According to the court's verdict

The Egyptian-Saudi deal to redraw maritime borders and its consequences above them placing the Tiran and Sanafir in Saudi water are annulled. The two islands are still within the Egyptian territories and the Egyptian State borders. The Egyptian sovereignty still continue in the two isles. It is prohibited to change their status in any way for any other country.

When Al-Messa newspaper knew the fate of Malek Adly before his trial day !!!

As far as I know and the world knows as well , judges do not leak their court rulings and decisions to the media before the court to anyone.This is what we .
Nevertheless, this is Egypt.
On Monday, State-owned Al-Messa newspaper published a news in its crimes page the Court renewed the detention of human rights lawyer Malek Adly for another 15 days pending investigation.
Malek Adly's case was already on Tuesday !?

Yes , the trial of Adly and other defendants was on Tuesday and not Monday.
Not so surprisingly , the Judge renewed the detention of Adly and other defendants in the case 15 days pending investigation for attempting to topple the regime and calling for the 25 April protests against the decision of the Egyptian government to give Tiran and Sanafir to Saudi Arabia.
So how did the newspaper know in advance what the court would rule eventually !?
This is a serious question !!
Anyhow , what is important in the trial on Tuesday is how Malek Adly complained about the inhuman treatment he was suffering from in his detention. Adly is still suffering from inhumane conditions in solitary confinement.
According to his wife Asmaa Aly , he has been in solitary confinement in a very narrow cell for 42 days.
During the court session on Tuesday , he told the Judge that he wanted to be tried like Israeli spies in custody.

Located directly beside  Cairo's El-Sayida Zeinab Mosque, a seasonal traditional informal market is held on both sides of Al-Sad street to sell mainly Ramadan Lanterns as well other Ramadan supplies from dried fruits, herbs, pickles and legumes as well toys and Ramadan decorations.

That location is turned from a marketplace to a Moulid Place.
The Mosque of Cairo's Islamic Saint Patron is located in the heart of Islamic Cairo, the old Cairo so you can feel that the ambience here is different as you can feel the Spirit of Ramadan even before it started.

My trip there was 48 hours before the start of Ramadan.
It is different than Upper Class or Upper Middle-Class area as here you can feel here the authentic Ramadan ambience that other more classy areas try to mimic.

Farewell El-Salam Theatre of Alexandria "Updated"

The last time I have iconic El-Salam Theatre 

From three weeks ago , I was in a quick short family visit to Alexandria and I passed by El-Salam Theatre. I felt so sad when I saw its deteriorating condition as another decaying building in the coastal despite its beautiful modernist style and its importance as culture venue.
The building and its futuristic design reminded me of the famous Egg building in Beirut. 
I promised myself to write something about its history one day but it seems that it is too late.
Earlier Sunday , bulldozers were seen demolishing the theatre which was inaugurated in the 1960s if I am not mistaken.

Can Egypt become a democracy of 91 Million People !?

On Sunday, Egypt's population hit 91 million officially according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics. Since reading that news, I have been thinking and asking myself one single question :

Can Egypt become a democracy of 91 million people ?
okay a little modification here :  Can Egypt become a democracy with a population of 91 million in very tough economic conditions as well in a very turbulent region like the Middle East with growing radicalism and regional powers that actually fight any Arab democratic attempt !?
Tough question ,is not it !?

When you think about it , only a divine miracle can enable Egypt to have a smooth , complete and real democratic civilian transition considering all the problems we have from huge population with lots of social diseases, deep rotten corrupted regime made of lawyers or rather competitive powers and apparatuses, extremely bad economy and polarized political powers in troubled region where regional regimes do not want you to have any kind of democracy in the first place for fear that virus can transfer to their countries.

It seems impossible at the first glance.
Still a second glance , huge population and poverty as well trouble regions can not stop democratic transition or democracy.
We got India, the biggest democracy in the world with all extremely huge population "over 1.2 billion people" with dozens of religions and ethnicity as well extreme poverty in addition to wars , extremism..etc.
This is India.

Arabian Nights show, we will stop a little bit with our author this season : Abbas El-Aswani.
Abbas El-Aswani is currently known as the father of one of Egypt's best-selling, award-winning and politically controversial authors and writers Alaa El-Aswani.
Still before being overshadowed by his son's name, Lawyer Abbas El-Aswani was already known as renowned writer and author in the 1960s and 1970s before his death.
Originally from Aswan , Abbas El-Aswani came and settled down in Cairo where he worked as a lawyer and later as a author.
In 1972 , Abbas Al-Aswani was among the receptiants of the State award for literature.
Now to our tale , the tale of King Rokn El-Zaman and his family.

First of all , Ramadan Karim to all Muslims celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Second , Your Egyptian Chronicles Scheherazade is back for a new season of Radio Arabian nights.

This year , we will know the tale of King Rokn El-Zaman , his wife Nourhan and their sons Safwan and Hassan.
Our tale is quite interesting because it was not written by Taher Abu Fasha like the previous seasons but it was written by author Abbas El-Aswani.

Yes , author Abbas El-Aswani , the father of renowned Egyptian novelist Alaa El-Aswani.
Originally an accountant, Abbas El-Aswani became a renowned author in 1960s.
His most famous book "The Aswan Prosimetrum" published in 1970 was turned into a radio series. As I searched more , I found out that El-Aswani wrote several radio shows.
This season was directed by the Egyptian Radio God father Mahmoud Shaaban as usual.
It starts at the 763rd episode.

Yes, the 763rd episode and I think this makes the Egyptian State Radio's Arabian Nights as the longest running drama radio show in Egypt and may be the Middle East !!

Look who is back to the Media scene in Egypt

The last two weeks witnessed huge and interesting acquisitions and merger in TV channels to the level that we are speaking about a media map that is being reshaped and as this takes place , we find a new or rather old face from Mubarak's era coming back making a surprise for everybody.
Suddenly , huge billboards in Cairo and Giza are seen with the ads of the new weekly newspaper Al-Zaman and her owner as well editor-in-chief Elham Sharshar , the wife of former and infamous interior minister Habib El-Adly.

Yes , the wife of the Mubarak's long-time interior minister is having a comeback in the media with a weekly newspaper that defends Islam scared beliefs and places as well the nation !!!
The newspaper is pure Pro-Sisi and Pro-regime. You can not doubt that.

Egyptian websites and newspapers are speaking that she would open a TV channel as well.
Elham Sharshar was a journalist in State-owned Al-Ahram Daily newspaper in its Crime section.
I do not remember reading anything significant for her before the revolution.

Another history in making : Head of Journalist syndicate stands trial !!

For the first time in the history of journalism in Egypt , the head of the journalists syndicate and two of its leading board members are going on trial on Saturday and there is a big chance that they will be sent to jail as well.
It all started late Monday evening when suddenly people knew that head of Egyptian Journalists syndicate Yahia Qallash as well its secretary general Gamal Abdel Rahim and undersecretary Khaled El-Balshy were at the Prosecution General's office in Downtown Cairo questioned for what happened during the storming of the syndicate earlier this month.
After 14 hours , in fact in the early hours of Tuesday the prosecution decided to release Qallash, El-Balshy and Abdel Rahim on bail charging them at the same time of spreading false news and sheltering fugitives !!!! 
Rejecting to be charged for something they believe they did not do, the three journalists and veteran unionists decided not to pay the LE 10,000 " USD 1,000" bail.
Head of Journalists syndicate Yahia Qallash also demanded an investigative judge to be investigative the incident instead of the General Prosecution.
After the storming of the syndicate, the Prosecutor General issued a statement supporting the Police's action imposing a media gag order on the case.
Qallash and his colleagues considered the Prosecution after that statement as biased party involved in the matter that could not
According to the law , they can face detention up to 4 days.
So the Prosecution decided to detain them till either pay or they would be sent to Misdemeanor court.
For nearly 32 hours , the three journalists were detained at Kasr Al-Nil police station where they were kept at one of the offices in the police station.

They technically semi-board meeting inside the police station.
Despite the three journalists insisted in an act of defiance that they would not pay the bail , the bail was paid anonymously after more than 30 hours against their well in some crazy scene.
It was not really anonymously because it turned out that lawyer Tarek Negida , the former leading member in Nasserite Popular current party.

The dagger that came from outer space

This can be the most interesting and cheerful news coming from Egypt on Wednesday aside from the fact that the EGYPTAIR MS804 black boxes' signals can be detected in the Mediterranean.

Egyptian and Italian researchers found out that the famous dagger of King Tutankhamen with crystal rock in its end was actually made out of a meteorite.

Yes, it turned out that the blade of the famous golden dagger was made out of a meteorite according to their research published last week at Meteoritic and Planetary Science Journal.
The blade's iron was taken from the Kharga Meteorite near Marsa Matrouh governorate.
That Meteorite which I ignored that it existed in Egypt in the first place was found in May 2000.

I will use this fantastic occasion to celebrate this great discovery and post a photo I took for that dagger with a blade from outer space at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo in December.

The dagger looks fantastic in reality , those inlaid gem stones with gold and its golden cover itself. Just an amazing piece of art , of course the whole collection is amazing just like any other Ancient Egyptian piece of art. We are speaking about art here. Of course this gives you a hint on how kings and rulers in Egypt are treated.

I want to post the King Tutankhamen's collection photos here but the problem I can not find the best time thanks to what is going in Egypt currently.
I do not know why I have the feeling that we may see a whole episode based on that discovery on History Channel's Ancient Aliens with wild theories.

Already Ancient Aliens show promotes the wild theory that Akhenaton , Tut's father  and controversial figure in the history of Ancient Egypt was actually an alien ... or an alien-human hybrid !!
