Bibi’s Game or How you make a time bomb and do not know how to stop it

When I saw the photo of the rockets launched from Gaza by Qassam brigades towards Israel in some cinematic scene, all I can think about is how this what current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aka Bibi wanted from the start.

Photo showing the rockets coming reportedly from Gaza on
Tuesday "Twitter"

Bibi wanted to remain in the picture and if he has to leave, he will leave behind chaos just like any corrupted Middle Eastern despot.

Yes, Bibi made an achievement and truly became a Middle Eastern corrupted leader whether financially or politically or morally too.

What is better to create chaos or turning things upside down except by launching a war against Gaza once again?

It proved to be a successful tactic in the Middle East to make people forget democracy and human rights when they feel danger and that their own national security.

Bibi and partners in the Gulf do not want the Biden administration to revive the Iran deal.

Bibi does not really want to revive the peace process nor does he want to stop the expansion in settlements.

Erupting a short battle with militant groups of Gaza is a perfect way and he knows very well which buttons to push for this to happen.

Coronavirus on the Nile: Egypt’s COVID-19 April 2021 numbers in Graph

This is the time of our monthly post about the coronavirus pandemic and its numbers in graphs.

The official numbers of coronavirus cases in Egypt continued officially to Serge steadily in April 2021 following March 2021.

In April 2021 people already were warning that we started to the impact of the coronavirus’ third more vividly unfortunately as the Holy Month of Ramadan Kicked off and people as well as the government despites its restrictions acted as if there is no pandemic.

The restaurants and Ramadan tents, as well as parties, are back under the guise of social distance rules but there is no social distance nor masks rules.

A woman wearing a mask in the famous El-Sayida Zeinab Ramadan Market in early April 2021.

in early April 2021.

April finished and the numbers are increasing and I hope that the government acts quickly and at least gives the Eid week off so people can stay in their homes for a while.

Last year, we had the peak of the coronavirus’ first wave in the month right Ramadan.

Disclaimer: According to Minister of Health Hala Zayed in early January, the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases worldwide Egypt included.

It is enough to know that the Ministry of Health delivered 4,000 of its coronavirus medication bags to the inhouse isolation cases in Suhag governorate this month only to know that the numbers are greater in the real world.

Now to the graphs of March numbers.

I can't pinpoint which monastery it is, if you do know then please leave a comment. I will be very grateful.

Wadi Al-Natroun or Al-Natroun valley includes a series of oldest monasteries, not only in Egypt but in the world. Wadi Al-Natroun is also one of the places that were visited by the Holy Family when they came to Egypt.

I hope one day inshallah I can visit this area and see all those places.

This year and due to the coronavirus outbreaks, all the visits to the monasteries are cancelled currently for the time being.

Please stay safe, stay home, keep your social distance and mask on and register to get the vaccine as soon as possible.

#Coronavirus on the Nile : May’s Coronavirus “Live Coverage”

A new month under the coronavirus pandemic.

It is May and in its first half of it, We got Labor Day, Orthodox Easter,  10 days of Ramadan and Eid during a scary surge of coronavirus cases across the country right now.

I do not know if we are in the middle of the third wave’s peak or the peak will be reached after those two weeks of national holidays and social gatherings.

In 2020, Egypt’s witnessed the peak of the coronavirus’ first wave in June right after Ramadan.

The government does not want a full lockdown or semi lockdown but it may resort to that if things go out of control.

The majority of the people are still careless. In those first 20 days of Ramadan restaurants and Sohour tents are back to business.

The only difference is that they do not offer shisha. Ramadan concerts are back. The public informal markets are over packed.

It is more than alarming because we are still very slow when it comes to vaccination. We still do not have enough vaccines and many people are scared of vaccination too.

Facebook has become like a scary obituary social network.

Stay safe, Stay at home as much as you can, keep your social distance, wear your mask and get vaccinated, please.

Kodak Agfa presents: The Mighty Return of El-Siyada Zeinab Ramadan Market in photos and video

First of all, Ramadan Karim to all the world.

El-Siyada Zeinab Ramadan Market is back to Cairo
Ramada Karim or Kareem from Egyptian Chronicles.

Second, when I went last week to the famous El-Siyada Zeinab district, I was planning to head to Taht Al Raba’ and Bab El-Khalq famous quarters to see the return of Ramadan Lanterns workshops and its outlets back in business.

Photos showing the workshops working went viral a couple of weeks ago after shutting down last year due to coronavirus partial lockdown policies.

Due to those policies, Cairo governorate cancelled the famous El-Siyada Zeinab Ramadan Market last year too. Only a few vendors defied the order.

To my surprise and on my way, I found the mighty El-Siyada Zeinab Ramadan Market is alive and kicking as if there were no pandemic.

Ramadan Arabian Nights 2021 : Tale of King Mahorab “The heirs' curse” Ep.1

And we are back to this wonderfully blessed time aka the Holy Month of Ramadan.

We are back to Ramadan as the Coronavirus pandemic is still with us threatening our safety and the safety of the people we love.

It is the second Ramadan in a row and hopefully inshallah next Ramadan, the world will be free from that awful pandemic.

Now Most importantly we need a break spiritually to have some rest from all that tension and fear. Ramadan is a good opportunity if we want to.

Ramadan Kareem

Egyptian Chronicles Blog is back with its Ramadan Arabian Nights for the year 2021.

We are back to the realm of the Book of One Thousand and one night and the beautiful voice of Zozo Nabil as legendary actress Zouzou Nabil as Scheherazade.

Produced by Egyptian State Radio, we are back to the One Thousand and One Nights created by Egyptian Radio legend Mahmoud Shaaban aka Papa Sharo.

This year I chose the tale of King Mahorab or rather the saga of King Mahorab.

This year’s tale was written by legendary Taher Abu Fasha. It is not an original story from One Thousand and One Nights but you will see here the amazing talent of Abu Fasha as fiction and fantasy based on history and folklore writer.

Now after the break you can hear our first episode or rather episode No.523 in one of Egypt’s longest radio shows ever produced.

When Yuri Gagarin visited Egypt

From 60 years ago, a Russian young man called Yuri Gagarin succeeded in go into Space and the rest was a world-known history.

The Soviet Cosmonaut truly made history in Space despite his short life that ended in a tragic accident on earth

The first man to go to space in recorded history. It was a huge moment but unfortunately, it was covered or stained by politics, West/East Space race or rather the US/Soviet race

Only now we look to it beyond that stupid polarization and propaganda machine I suppose. Or not so much as the tensions are still there.

Anyhow in Egyptian Chronicles, we will not look into Gagarin's historical trip to space but rather at his trip to Egypt.

Yuri Gagarin in one of his coolest poses ever

Yes, Yuri Gagarin visited Egypt in 1962 as part of that world tour following his historical space flight and he had a blast in Egypt visiting Cairo, Giza, Alexandria and Luxor.

The Golden Pharaohs’ Parade of Egypt

On Saturday, Cairo is on a date with one unique procession.

Cairo will witness a parade of 22 ancient Egyptian Kings and Queens as they or rather their mummies are being transferred from the Egyptian Museum of Cairo in Downtown’s Tahrir Square to the Newly inaugurated The National Egyptian Civilization Museum “NECM” in Old Cairo’s Fustat.

They are transferred to a new home

They are going to a new home now after more than 100 years in The Egyptian Museum of Cairo as it is undergoing a huge renovation project sponsored by the EU and a bunch of European museums above them the British Museum.

The Mummies are reportedly to receive better and advanced care in the NECM because that care can’t be provided in the Tahrir Museum with its old structure.

The parade will take place at Sunset, at about 6 PM and it will take only 45 minutes but it will be a procession to be remembered. It will start at the renovated Tahrir square.

#Coronavirus on the Nile : April’s Coronavirus “Live Coverage”

A new month under the coronavirus pandemic. It is April and in its half of it, the Holy Month of Ramadan will commence and observed by more than one billion Muslim around the globe during what is believed to be the third wave of coronavirus.

From the preparation of Ramadan in Cairo in 2020
"Mohamed El-Shahed for AFP"

Last year we had our first Ramadan under partial lockdown that many did not respect or follow its role. The result was catastrophic officially and unofficially in numbers as from the second or third week of Ramadan 2020, we had a surge in the cases.

The highest numbers of coronavirus cases recorded and cases of coronavirus fatalities officially were in those weeks between May and June during Ramadan 2020 and after it.

It was the peak of coronavirus’ first virus in Egypt.

Now officials are worried the third wave of coronavirus will be in the upcoming weeks during Ramadan as well as the Orthodox Easter when Egyptians meet up for social gatherings.

This time the live coverage will extend to four weeks instead of two weeks to make it easier for me honestly because the second half will be during Ramadan as you may have known.

Please stay safe, stay at home and get vaccinated.

Here is the live update

In February 2019, Kodak Agfa went on a short trip to the amazing and wonderful Bahariya Oasis of Egypt. Despite it follows the Giza governorate officially yet it is considered in the heart of the Western desert or rather we can consider it the gate of the Western Desert and its oases

Interestingly the Bahariya Oasis is known in Egypt as Bahariya Oases and not only One oasis.

There are sites many sites and places I have been on this short trip including the city of Bawiti where I have been staying but I will kick it off with this small private museum I have been to hours before going back to Cairo.

That small private museum is the Bahariya Oasis Heritage.

The Bahariya Oasis Heritage Museum from outside

This small privately-owned and operated museum is dedicated to the heritage, culture and history of the Bahariya Oasis, which is actually quite a mysterious place for the majority of the Egyptians from the valley of the Nile.

It is not your usual museum where you can find a collection of old artefacts but rather it is a heritage and art museum.

Ever Green Saga : Latest updates and memes too of Suez Canal Blockage Crisis

This post is to share all the latest news, updates and memes “yes” of the Ever Green on-going Saga.

For those who do not know 10% of world trade is technically in trouble because since Tuesday a gigantic container ship blocked the waterway of Egypt’s Suez Canal diagonally

There have been daily attempts by Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority to refloat the Japanese-owned Ever Green Container Ship with the help of Dutch Salvation but so far the attempts have not met any success.

Thus the third and the worst case which is offloading the gigantic ship will be on the table and that will take time.

Anyhow here is our Egyptian Chronicles live blog update on everything Suez Canal.

Ever Given Saga Continues : Tugging against time “Latest Suez canal crisis updates”

Up till now Gigantic Ever Given container ship is blocking not only Egypt’s Suez canal but also at least 10% of the world trade.

So far on Saturday evening the attempts to tug Ever Given continued using the high tide with 14 tugboats joining forces.

There has been no official statement from the Suez Canal Authority “SCA” about the progress of this attempt but some believe Saturday night may not be our lucky night.

The latest photo of Ever Given Saturday evening The latest photo of Ever Given Saturday evening
The latest photo of Ever Given Saturday evening

The Chairman of the SCA Vice Admiral Osama Rabea held a press conference Saturday afternoon to share with the media and the world the latest developments concerning the big ship.

Here are the most important points Rabea said.

  • 321 vessels are currently stuck at the Suez canal.
  • It will take 48 hours after “unblocking the canal” for those vessels to leave the canal.
  • Currently, those vessels are receiving all needed logistics and support from SCA.
  • The wind and the dust storm are not the main cause the vessel to run aground as it was claimed earlier
  • The cause of this disaster is still being investigated.
  • Before this disaster, the SCA used to achieve USD 12 million as revenue on a daily basis.
  • It is unclear how much time it will take to solve this problem but the SCA is working day and night.
  • No casualties or pollution have been caused by Ever Given.
  • He thanked the countries that offered help including the United States, China and UAE.

Sohag Train tragedy : A return to the bad train accidents curse in Egypt “Graphic”

It is as if Egypt has not enough trouble this week with the Ever Given blocking the Suez, it ends the week with another tragedy:  A horrible train collision killing over 30 people and injuring over 100 others.

The tragedy started at 12:04 PM Sohag Local time when two trains collided in a rural village in the city of Tahta in Sohag governorate

Train “157” collided with “air-conditioned” Alexandria-Luxor train causing three train passenger cars to derail and flipped over.

The trains after the collision "Getty images"

The result is at least 32 dead people and 108 injured according to the latest toll by the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

ِAccording to the latest statements of Minister of Health Hala Zayed 19 people were killed and 185 were injured

The injured's condition is between moderate to critical.

In some sad coincidence, the accident took place near a cemetery inside that village in Tahta.

The victims were transferred to local hospitals after being saved by the locals before the authorities would arrive at the scene and lift up the trains.

In fact, the citizens tried to lift up the trains and open an exit for the victims to save them on time.

Ever Given Saga : Still blocking Suez Canal

For the third day in a row, Ever Given container ship is still blocking the Suez canal’s narrowest point and the Suez Canal Authority “SCA” brought more tug boats including larger ones with teams coming from Netherland and Japan to help in re-floating the ship.

According to SCA, 9 tugboats, 2 drudgers and 4 bulldozers are participating in the rescue works of the ship.

SCA announced on Thursday that it aimed to remove 20 meters of sand to reach 12-16 depth level to refloat the Ever Given through removing the sand around its bow.

Dredging the sands around the ship is actually the second scenario the SCA is using after an attempt to tug the gigantic ship on Wednesday according to Marine expert Mahmoud Nakhla who spoke with Egypt's Ahram Online about scenarios to re-float Ever Given

If dredging does not work then the SCA will have to unload some containers from the ship before lightning it, which is the worst-case scenario.

It is an evergreen day at Suez Canal … literally !! "Updated"

It is all about evergreen in the Suez canal and in Egypt

It is not every day we find a huge big container vessel blocking the Suez Canal and its traffic creating a crisis in world trade movement worldwide even for short time !!

Ever Given in Suez canal
The Ever given vessel stuck by Julianne Cona on Instagram.

The whole strange drama started at 7 AM on Tuesday when a gigantic vessel ran aground in the narrowest part of the Suez canal blocking it and creating a canal jam.

A 220,000-tonne, 400 metre-long Ever Given “Mega Ship” is technically stuck and the Egyptian Suez canal sent help with 8 mega tuck boats to help re-float.

Currently, it is stuck in the narrow single-lane path between the Red Sea and Bitter lakes. ِ

Now we got news from Reuters that a team from the Netherlands will come and help in its refloating early Thursday, so yes we are speaking about more than 48 hours.

The latest update we have so far from the Suez canal that the Suez canal authority team managed to free that part of the ship called "bulbous bow" which was stuck in the rocks.

Coronavirus on the Nile : The COVID-19 Spring of March “Live updated”

And the time comes again a new live updates post for 15 days to cover everything coronavirus as much as we can.

The mass vaccination in Egypt continues but in a very slow phase.

There are not many people registering on the website launched by the Ministry of Health and it is a problem the officials are speaking about publicly.

It is a problem and it has several reasons.

An Egyptian lady receiving her first dose of the vaccine in Cairo "Adel Eissa"
ِAn Egyptian lady receiving her first dose of the vaccine in Cairo
"Adel Eissa"
The target age group is the elderly and chronic disease patients. Not all elderly and chronic disease patients have access to the internet or know the website, especially in the countryside.

We need more campaigns targeting those people.

Another reason: The God damned bloody conspiracy theories.

I thought that the conspiracy theories were not that effective till I know that in working classes bloody WhatsApp messages are being shared warning about the vaccines and how they will round people in streets to be vaccinated !!

Another reason: Some people do not want the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine and want the AstraZeneca vaccine but Egypt has not got enough jabs yet from either vaccine.

Another new reason: Some people do not want the Chinese vaccine nor the AstraZeneca vaccine especially after its suspension in seven countries :((

It is madness

Now, here is our live update below for another 15 days.

Coronavirus on the Nile: Egypt’s COVID-19 February numbers in Graph

This is the time of our monthly post about the coronavirus pandemic and its numbers in graphs.

After January 2021 witnessed a decline in the number of coronavirus cases officially in Egypt, February 2021 witnessed officially a steady increase in the numbers released by the Ministry of health, which I depend upon here.

Egyptian Doctors wearing the PPE "Reuters"

Unofficially, doctors began to speak that we began the third wave of coronavirus in Mid February.

February witnessed the mass vaccination of health care workers which started in late January.

It started with the Sinopharm vaccine and then AstraZeneca but it is moving slowly.

I would like to hint out that according to Minister of Health Hala Zayed in early January, the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases.

Now to the graphs of February numbers.

First, the daily cases of coronavirus in Egypt.

#IWD2021 : The New Draft Personal Status law

First Happy New International Women’s Day to all the fantastic ladies all over the world

Second, I do not know how we celebrate the IWD 2021 and speak about Women’s Empowerment in Egypt on any level when we are on the verge of having a new Personal Status Law that will be a huge setback to Women’s empowerment in Egypt.

Last week, we knew that among the new draft laws the House of Representatives will discuss and supposedly pass it soon is the new Personal status draft law which was drafted by the Egyptian government.

The new personal status law on the occasion of IWD 2021 by Doaa Al Adl
The new personal status law on the occasion of IWD 2021 by Doaa Al Adl

Youm 7 website reportedly published a copy of that draft law before removing it according to the women’s rights advocates who took a copy from that draft law.

According to them, it is disastrous for women and a huge setback to women’s empowerment in Egypt.

One of the major points that they raised that this law or those amendments technically cancels the woman’s legal capacity in the first place.

Despite it gives women the right to marry by themselves, it allegedly enables any male “guardian” in the woman’s family to annul or to divorce her.

One of the proposed articles strips mothers from financial guardianship or conservatorship over their minor children giving it to men in the family. I do not know what to say.

The True Awaited Historical Meeting

Earlier Saturday, Pope Francis held a meeting in Najaf Al-Ashraf with Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani on the second day of his visit to Iraq.

It is the first meeting of its kind between the head of the Catholic Church and a Muslim Shia grand Ayatollah or Marja in the size of al-Sistani.

Ayatollah al-Sistani and Pope France at his place in Al-Najaf , Iraq

The meeting and the visit to Iraq itself represented another way of how the Catholic Church is open to interfaith dialogue internationally under the leadership of Pope Frances.

For the first time in history, the Pope visits Iraq aka the cradle of the civilizations as well as the place believed by Jews, Christians and Muslims to be the birthplace of Prophet Abraham “PBUH".

Now to my two Egyptian piasters, the meeting between Ayatollah al-Sistani and Pope Frances is not the truly historical fruitful meeting that would push things forwards in the interfaith dialogue I am looking forward

The true historical meeting I am waiting to see in my lifetime and hopefully will “definitely” play a role in easing the sectarian tensions in the Middle East is the meeting between Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, The Grand Emam of Al-Azhar and Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in Najaf Al-Sharaf.

You are damned right !! I want Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb of Egypt’s Al-Azhar to visit Al-Najaf Al-Sharaf, the Shia holy city and to sit with al-Sistani.

This is the third post in a series of posts featuring my short visit in 2017 with my family to the amazing Fayoum governorate. "Warning: The photos may not be the best"

The first post in the series featured Lake Qaron aka Lake Moeries while the second post featured the Wadi El-Rayan waterfalls.

Now, this post is dedicated also to another amazing place in the Wadi El-Rayan protectorate.

We have not finished yet this protectorate.

Our next stop on that trip was at the Magic Lake region.

Coronavirus on the Nile: Twelve months of COVID-19 in Egypt in graphs

Another monthly post as part of the COVID-19 coverage in Egyptian Chronicles.

This time it is a quick look into COVID-19 numbers in Egypt after twelve months since its arrival to the country in February 2020. Yes, it has been a year.

One hell of a year.

Now before I got into the graph, I must hint out that in January 2021 aka last month, minister of health Hala Zayed admitted once that the numbers of coronavirus situation in Egypt released by the ministry officials are less than the real numbers.

Wearing PPE in an isolation hospital in Cairo "Ahmed Gomaa'

She stated the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases.

Zayed also revealed later that Egypt's Ministry of Health has organized 64,000 visits to coronavirus patients who are self-isolating at homes and provided medication to 17,000 cases during the month of January.

According to the statement, we had not less than 17,000 cases in January plus those admitted in the official hospitals whom the ministry counts.

Now to our graphs and comparisons.

Happy Valentine's Day From Egyptian Museum of Cairo : From King Tut and Royal Wife

Happy Valentine’s Day from Egyptian Chronicles.

A little throwback to those days at the great, one and only Egyptian Museum of Cairo and the famous golden chair of King Tutankhamun depicting him and his royal wife Ankesenamun, which was found in his famous tomb

Coronavirus on the Nile : A very #COVID19 Valentine or very #COVID19 exams

Happy Valentine's Day despite the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns as well as restrictions

Officially, the world is celebrating its first St. Valentine’s Day in the coronavirus lockdown and its drama.

The biggest loser if I may say is the businesses that turned this day into big profits season more than anyone.

Anyhow moving to things that really matter, it is unclear if we are going to have exams in Egypt for schools or universities or not with contradicted news reports and statements.

The officials say that the exams of the first semester will be held at schools and universities but students and parents are demanding the government and are sending pleas to the president to suspend the in-school exams and make it like last year aka “online researches”.

We are still waiting for the mass-vaccination to roll out in Egypt. It seems that they have not finished yet the medical teams.

Anyhow, here is our 15-days-Live-updates of everything coronavirus in the Arab world as much as I can.

Coronavirus on the Nile: Egypt’s COVID-19 January numbers in Graph

This is the time of our monthly post about the coronavirus pandemic and its numbers in graphs.

It is the first monthly post in 2021.

After December 2020 witnessed a leap in the cases of coronavirus in Egypt, January 2021 witnessed officially a decline in the numbers released by the Ministry of health, which I depend upon here.

Unofficially, there are indicators including the frantic search for beds for patients and the increase in cases of coronavirus in your circles.

A family in masks in Cairo
A family in masks in Cairo "Reuters"

Personally, our family had its first coronavirus fatality and I hope inshallah it will be the last.

It was my mom’s cousin who is older than her. A grandmother in her late 60s, she suffered from kidney disease already.

She could not find a bed in ICU in nearby hospitals in New Cairo and her condition detartrated.

When her family found a bed in a private hospital in Maadi, she had already a kidney failure and was put on a ventilator till the end.

May Allah bring patience to her family.

My direct cousin who is a young man in his twenties got coronavirus after spending the new year’s eve weekend in Taba.

Thankfully, it was mild and he recovered quickly.

Enough of the chat here are the numbers of January.

First, the daily cases of coronavirus in Egypt.

Coronavirus on the Nile : The Vaccines of February

Here we are in a new month aka February.

This month marks a whole year since the coronavirus officially arrived Cairo through a Chinese citizen working in a Chinese company in February 2020

After that, the rest is the history we have been living.

Anyhow in February 2021, Egypt is going to have wider vaccination campaigns.

Some related photo from Reuters

On Sunday, Cairo received its first shipment of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine which was officially granted by emergency approval by the Egyptian Drug Authority hours after its arrival from India.

This week will witness the arrival of another shipment of China’s Sinopharm vaccine which is already being used in the vaccination of Medical teams in the country.

We have not started yet the phase of citizens vaccination, which will kick off with the chronic disease patients followed by senior citizens.

Anyhow enough of the talk here is another post of two-weeks-live-updates of everything coronavirus.

#Jan25 : Ten years gone

Warning: It is quite a depressing post but sometimes to have let all those thoughts out to think better

I am trying to avoid all emotions and memories because it is hard, really damned hard and sad to write what I feel when it comes to the 25 January revolution especially after ten years

Yes, ten years have passed and yet it seems like yesterday.

Again this is unarranged personal biased emotional post.

They call us as emotional who do not think with their brains enough, who are not realistic enough.

Revolutionaries are emotional, they are dreamers and they dream always for a better future.

#Jan25 New Hope
Ten years ago at Tahrir square

“Bread, Freedom and Social justice” are not emotional goals but rather realistic basic human needs.

Maybe the world can be a little better if people start to be emotional and politicians stop their cold calculations that make things from bad to worse to worst.

Again I do not know or how to organize and type all those feelings, ideas and those words I want to say.

I feel overwhelmed

Coronavirus on the Nile : COVID-19 ups and downs

Time for our new two-weeks Live Updates post about everything Coronavirus in Egypt and the Arab world.

After an increase in the official number of coronavirus cases in Egypt, last week the numbers declined officially.

I am saying officially because you still hear more cases of coronavirus in your circles in Egypt nowadays.

It is enough to know that the Egyptian Medical syndicate recorded 31 fatalities of its members alone due to coronavirus in the first ten days of coronavirus.

In a Coronavirus isolation hospital in Egypt by Ahmed Gomaa
In a Coronavirus isolation hospital in Egypt by Ahmed Gomaa

Personally, our family had its first fatality due to coronavirus, my mom’s cousin who already suffered kidney disease and due to her infection with coronavirus, she had a kidney failure.

Like many Egyptians, it was a hard thing to find a place for her in an ICU and she ended up in a private hospital on a ventilator before passing away. May Allah bless her soul and bring patience to her family.

In those upcoming days, the Egyptian government should start its vaccination process

Egypt’s Drugs Authority “EDA” had already approved the emergency use of China’s Sinopharma vaccine and set up a website so people can register but up till now, the vaccination process has not started yet.

It is worth to mention that according to previous statements of health officials predicted that the peak of the coronavirus’ second wave would be in late January.

Regionally, the Gulf states continue successfully in its vaccination programs. Algeria’s President is back to Germany to complete his coronavirus treatment. The numbers of coronavirus cases are surging in Lebanon for real. It is unclear how Lebanon can book vaccines with a financial crisis.

Anyhow please stay safe and stay home as much as you can.

Coronavirus on the Nile: Egypt’s COVID-19 December numbers in Graph

This is the time of our monthly post about the coronavirus pandemic and its numbers in graphs.

Needless to say,  December 2020 witnessed a leap in the cases of coronavirus as well as its fatalities and recoveries.

In December 2020, we did not have only an official recognition that we are in the second wave of coronavirus.

The New Year’s Eve celebrations were cancelled. More restrictions were issued once again above them reducing the Not-wearing-the-face-mask in public from LE 4,000 to LE 50 to make it more realistic.

Schools are back to be online and more companies are back to work from home or rotation system to reduce work in closed offices.

If you live in Egypt, you will know that as you will find someone in your circle or family’s circle or friend’s circle who tested positive for coronavirus.

The official numbers increased from 400s in December’s first week to 1,400s in the last two days of the month.
