"Strong Egypt" party officially registers itself

"Strong Egypt" Party has officially admitted its papers to the Parties' committee HQ at the Supreme court in Cairo in a big celebratory event made by its young members. Hundreds from supporters and members came from different parts of Cairo and Giza as well from different governorates like Suez and Tanta since early morning. Chanting the slogans and the songs of "Strong Egypt" {that was made during the Presidential campaign of Abu El Fotouh} , the young supporters and members were energetic.

 I notice that the event was being taken care of financially wise with all these flags , t-Shirts and DJ not to mention the banners.
I saw Mokhtar Noah and Rabab El Mahdy at the court before the arrival of Abu El Fotouh. The man of course was received like a hero by his supporters.

The New Pope will be from these 3 men

This can be old news for you but yes the new Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria will be from these three men : Father Raphael Ava Mina,Bishop Tawadros and Bishop Raphael.
Here is a quick bio for the three men. I hope that the bios are correct.

Father Raphael Ava Mina :

Father Raphael Ava Mania

The oldest candidate. Born in 1942 in Rod El Farag for a family that originally came from Asuit , Bishop Ava Mina graduated from the faculty of law , Ain Shams University.
 Raphael Ava Mina is considered the faithful student of Pope Cyril VI. He became a monk on 7th August 1969. On 8th August 1969 Pope Cyril VI ordained him as a priest in St. Mina Monastery.
He wrote about 25 books in religion as well 17 booklets about the unknown saints. 
He is known to be a very peaceful man who lives according to the doctrines of Pope Cyril. There is difference between Pope Cyril VI and Pope Shenouda III starting from I know and I understand.

About #IAF raids on #Sudan

The talk and gossip have not stopped yet in Cairo since the Israeli raid on Sudan’s Yarmouk military factory last and that training of EAF today’s morning was like a new fuel for that rumor mill that does not want to stop.
Now many people believe that the IAF used our skies to hit Sudan and they actually think and believe that those jets that broke sound barrier earlier today were actually Israeli jets.
I do not know about today’s jets , up till now I am buying the official statement of Egyptian armed forces because there is no reason Israel would provoke our country now in this way not to mention this is an act of war but I know Sunday Times published an info graph about the Israeli attack on Sudan.

Eight IAF F15s sent to Sudan where they evaded the Egyptian radars and their electronic warfare equipment jammed Sudan’s air defences. Of course if you watch what the Sudanese minister of defense Abdel Rahim Hussein and how he justified in last May proudly why the Sudanese air defenses did not stop another IAF attack , you will know how troubled the Sudanese armed forces are !!

I missed this action !! EAF morning training

I woke up to find all my friends on twitter and Facebook speaking about these two F16 jets that rocked the skies of Cairo and other governorate early in the morning freaking them out of their beds.
To be honest I did not hear anything and I was sleeping like a baby at 5 AM today but luckily some citizen in Shubra filmed these two annoying F16. "Old video , sorry"
After couple of hours we found Colonel Ahmed Ali , the official spokesperson posting this statement his official Facebook Page.

OK you test your toys and train your boys as you want but you have to be careful that such actions cause public panic.

The top 5 candidates

After one hour  from now the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria will hold the semi-final internal elections to choose the top and final three candidates for the Papacy from 5 candidates. The three finals will compete on the Papacy next Sunday in huge ceremony.
Voting in this stage will start from 9 AM to 5 PM and it may extend for another hour. The votes will be counted in the attendance of a representative from the ministry of interior and the results will be announced between 9 PM and 10 PM. It is worth to mention the Ethiopian Church will be participating in the elections also through a delegation made of 5 priests for the first time after the separation of Ethiopian Church from Egyptian Orthodox Church.
The voters from Holy Synod will have choose 3 top candidates out of 5.
For the first time in its history , the Semi-final elections will be aired live in three Egyptian TV channels , two Christians including CTV and secular TV channel  “CBC”. 
The Orthodox Conclave will be held next Sunday and President Morsi will attend it ISA. “I think he is the first Egyptian president to attend it such important event if I am not mistake”
The 5 candidates are currently spending their night in 3 monasteries. Some are claiming that the top three will be : Father Raphael Ava Mina,Bishop Tawadros and Bishop Raphael. We will see if they are going to make it.

Huge Fire destroys #Libya Market in #Matrouh

Huge fire has destroyed Marsa Matrouh’s most famous and biggest public market “Libya Market” in Marsa Matrouh earlier this morning. The fire started at 7 AM and destroyed nearly 90% of the market that is already made of tin. 7 citizens reportedly suffered from suffocation , hopefully there are no deaths. According to early estimations primarily losses reached to LE 3 million. Economic losses are expected to be more than as news reports are speaking about the destruction of not less than 400 small shops.

#EgyFarmers : They Only want Water

Ahram Online’s Nada El Kouny wrote extremely alarming report about the trouble small scale farmers in Fayoum governorate are currently facing. Here is a video report with translation showing the problem of these farmers.

These farmers do not want anything except water , they do not want money or another demands except water for their own land. This is so simple. I think President Morsi as a man who originated from a family of farmers knows exactly what these people have been through in the past ten years.

How many farmers in Egypt want only water for their land ?? I fear too many. Please make some noise for their farmers as much you can. Already I can not believe this happens in Fayoum .

Now I am begging bloggers and citizen journalists around Egypt to go and to do similar reports about the problems they are facing in their governorates.

Terrorist cells, corrupted intelligence officers and possible assassination plots … welcome to Cairo Action !!

Last Wednesday news broke out in the media that a terrorist cell was arrested in Nasr City and that a terrorist was killed during the operation. There were no much details available especially we are speaking about last Wednesday that witnessed bad weather , horrible traffic jam and the great escape from Cairo to all resorts before the Eid Adha big holiday.
The security forces announced that the cell included two Libyans , two Tunisians and one Egyptian. One Libyan was killed in a crossfire with security forces. There are many juicy parts in the whole affair about their training and their plans to blow up important locations in Cairo.
According to sources that Libyan terrorist is allegedly connected to the murder of the US Ambassador in Tripoli last September 2012 and he used the alias name of “Nabil” and “Hazim”  in Egypt. If you think that this is getting deeply interesting and distributing at the same time , I think you should wait for awhile because it is getting more interesting by the minute.
Now again according to source that Libyan terrorist was provided by arms allegedly through corrupted Egyptian intelligence “GIS” officer and according to the same sources he is the same corrupted GIS officer involved in the murder of a police officer last September by hands of arms dealers gang. Some unnamed security source told Al Hayat that this officer was actually a former security officer without mentioning his work.

#Sudan : It is beyond a factory in #Khartoum

on Tuesday the people of Khartoum woke up late night after hearing a huge explosion in a factory owned by the Sudanese army. The explosion took place in Yarmouk military industrial complex.

For the record I was following Sudanese tweeps online last night and they had mixed reports about the nature of the explosion. Already I do not understand how on earth such military complex is being place inside a residential area like this !!

Some claimed that they knew workers inside the complex who told them that the explosion happened because of some malfunctions. I would buy this and I am in Cairo if the explosion took place in 10 AM and not in 10 PM where there is supposedly no operations. Others claimed that a military plane crashed in to the military industrial complex while it was transferring ammunition.

Noam Chomsky in Cairo : AUC Lecture

Noam Chomsky came to Cairo in a short yet very active visit where he gave a lecture in the AUC , spoke with politicians and had an interview in few hours. Chomesky had short Middle East visit that included a visit to Gaza.

His lecture in the AUC Downtown Hall was among the reasons why traffic was so bad in Downtown Cairo yesterday. Now if you missed the opportunity to attend that AUC lecture which was the hottest event this week in Egypt , you can watch it online here.

Chomsky met with Abdel Moneim Abu El Fotouh and Hamdeen Sabbahi too and spoke about the upcoming constitution. The American thinker asked them about what they are going to do if that constitution drafted by the current constituent assembly was approved by the public. I do not think both men got an answer !!

Even if there were Martians in #Sinai , it is not an Excuse

President Morsi’s spokesperson Yasser Ali had a meeting with 5 journalists last week including a dear friend.

Yasser Ali spoke about the security issue in Sinai , the big enigma that other than the Presidency , army and intelligence nobody in Egypt understands what is going on there.

Ali claimed that the current militant groups in Sinai “allegedly Jihadist Salafists” where actually supported and incited by none other than Syrian intelligence and Hezbollah as well Fatah’s Dahlan because of Morsi’s support to the revolution in Egypt

For days I have been thinking about what Ali claimed to these journalists, it is easy to blame El Assad but there are certain facts :

• I do not know exactly where Egypt as state officially and unofficially stand from Syria , I am not speaking about big words and speeches. I am speaking about that rare visit of Egyptian top security delegation to Syria which was denied by Ali earlier this month.

Death comes as the end , it is the only fact we are assure of in our lives as humans. We will die one day.

My grandma has passed away yesterday after a whole week in the ICU in the hospital. She was like a mother to me more than grandmother.

My solace is that she did not suffer in the hospital that.  I ran out of words , I feel I can blog and write about politics all day long but I can not speak about my grandma , may be it is my mind. I do not know really

#Kuwait : Who is Musallam Al Barrack ?

The name of Kuwaiti MP Musallam Al Barrack made headlines yesterday in Kuwait as one of the callers to the Nation's Dignity March. He has been arrested yesterday and is accused of insulting the Prince of Kuwait.

Al Barrack is a member of the popular action bloc in the Kuwaiti Parliament . A veteran MP , I see Al Barrack popular in his area as he got votes in the latest parliamentary elections more than any other MP in his district "30,118" in the history of Kuwaiti parliamentary elections.

From what I read in the past 48 hours I can not find any association with him and the Muslim brotherhood or Iran , the man seems to my Egyptian mindset as more of a reformist type. Al Barrack seems to defend public money and fights corruption in the government.
Kuwaiti Politicians and activists "We will not allow you" the famous chant heard in the Kuwaiti capital yesterday was actually inspired by Al Barrack's speech from couple of days ago in some gathering at the Well's public space. During the speech Al Barrack said "We will not allow you Prince"

As usual the government does nothing despite in time of Mubarak there were many suggestions on how to fight it and end it for once and for all in eco-friendly way !!
I believe one of the indications that our revolution has made it is when the Egyptian government acts in a proactive way and not a reaction way.

#Kuwait : This is big change in the #Gulf "Updated"

There is a huge change taking place in the Gulf , after Bahrain , we got Kuwait and actually it is something expected.

Hundreds of thousands Kuwaitis took the streets today in the capital in a rally that head to the parliament then to the Royal Palace to object the elections law proposed by the Prince.

The rally is called “Nation’s dignity” according to its organizers.

That controversial elections law is already refused by almost all political powers from Islamists “Muslim brotherhood and Salafists” to liberals to women to Shiites to Bedouins and Badoons as well. The protesters chanted “We will not allow you” tonight in reference to the Prince’s law.
According to some estimation , this rally could be by far the biggest political protest Kuwait has ever seen considering the population of Kuwait itself.

I can not believe that some people are still debating that the Protocol letter sent by to president Morsi to Peres is fake one !! I just can not believe it !!
Guys the Egyptian presidency sent that letter , it is a protocol letter with the same form for all the countries in the world.

The Egyptian presidency already admitted that it was authentic and Yasser Ali , the official spokesperson of Presidency posted on his official Facebook Page on Thursday a copy of the protocol letter sent from the Egyptian presidency to the president of Peru with our new ambassador there and it is identical to the letter sent to Peres.

Many people are shocked by the language of the letter and they have too considering how the Muslim brotherhood involved in the Palestinian cause since 1948 yet I am not that shocked because honestly as a president I know that his language will not be different that much especially in this early stage of his rule.

In the end yes he called Peres a dear friend , I do not care if he calls Peres his buddy or baby but my problem is that Israel refuses to amend Camp David and it seems to be steal gas from Egyptian territorial sea !! 

#EgyConstitution : Let’s read the Draft-1

The constituent assembly issued the first draft of the constitution , the so-called revolution’s constitution online for public debate. Here is the first part of the draft constitution translated in to English by Ahmed Aboul Enein. The People’s assembly will be called “The Congress” and the Shura council will be called “The senates” Yes this is huge change !!!
I will not comment on the personal freedoms and religious freedoms now because it seems they are the tip of the ice-berg and what it is even worse has been hidden from public discussion. Here is a quick look to the President’s powers and articles in the upcoming constitution :

• There is no vice president position in the upcoming constitution, it is not mentioned at all despite it has been a stressing revolutionary demand for decades !! I want a vice president.
• Our political system is a presidential one !! It seems that the Muslim brotherhood feels and realizes that they may not get the majority of the parliament in the future.
• Double citizenships Egyptians can run for presidency so can Egyptians with double citizenships parents according to article no.136 that contradicts with the Constitutional declaration’s article no.27 that put a clear restriction on candidacy. Despite many believed it was a racist article yet I think it saved us from Hazem Salah Abu Ismail.
• The president can disband the parliament in case the parliament rejects his prime minister and cabinet twice according to article no.145 !!
• The president can appoint and fire army officers according to the law according to article no.149. Define “according to the law”

Remembering Mohamed Fawzi

Mohamed Fawzi was only 48 years old when he died on that died from 46 years ago. He died after giving the world music that Egyptians and Arabs still enjoy up till this moment.
As a composer and a singer Fawzi did not live that long but he presented music that proved to live decades and decades immortalizing him in our Egyptian history as one of the greatest Artists Egypt had seen in the 20th century. As an actor he was from the few cool funny guys that you can enjoy watching on screen.

The fantastic legendary Hussein El Sayid wrote the lyric and music composed and performed by the amazing Fawzi. His voice was amazing and sweet in that song. By the way this was the first song I had downloaded as a MP3 from the famous old Mazika.com before it would be acquired by LinkDotNet

Regarding tahrir square and #Mubarak regime remnants

Today thousands of Non Islamist opposition supporters protested in Tahrir square against the constituent assembly and its proposed draft constitution. About 29 revolutionary party , movement and group took part in the protest which was called “Egypt is for all Egyptians , Egypt is not estate”.
Already a number of Mubarak /Shafik/ Omar Suleiman’s supporters including notorious Tawfik Okasha and Ahmed Zpider insisted to join this protest claiming that the square , the symbol of the revolution which they fought and attacked for the past year and half is for all Egyptians !!
Despite the revolutionary forces declared their complete refusal to have these supporters in the square in a statement issued on Thursday and despite the revolutionary protesters kicked them from the square today , there has been a huge debate about this topic in the past 48 hours.
“ We welcome all Egyptians in Tahrir square , We should stand against the Muslim brotherhood one hand…” are examples of what the Pro-Regime remnants , actually the pro-regime remnants said online.

Morsi’s letter to Peres is not Fake Dear MB

MB members and supporters are spreading lies that the amicable friendly letter President Mohamed Morsi of Egypt has sent to President Shimon Peres of Israel presented by the new Egyptian ambassador in Tel Aviv Atef Salem is fake.

Today the Supreme council of Press has fired journalist Gamal Abdel Rahim from his position as he editor in chief of Al Gomhouria newspaper. He was fired because today the Front Page’s headline on Wednesday was as as follows :

The citadels of corruption fall
Banning Anan and Tantawy from Travel within hours
Accusing Gamal Mubarak , Ibrahim Kamel and Farouk El Okda of selling Egypt’s debts … and 650 celebs in front of the illicit gains authority

Later on Wednesday MENA , the official state agency published the following : An informed source denies the news about imposing a travel ban on Sami Anan and Mohamed Hussein Tantawy.
By afternoon the Supreme council of Press fired Abdel Rahim from his position after just two months after his appointment in that position.

After considerable delay the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria announced officially the top 5 papal candidates for the Pope’s position from the 17 candidates declared last August 2012.
The top 5 are :

• Father Raphael Ava Mina from Mari Mina in Alexandria. Mina was born in 1924 in Cairo and has a degree in law from the University of Ain Shams. He is considered the oldest candidate in the list.
• Father Bakhomious Al Sorian from the monastery of Virgin Mary in Wadi Al Natroon. Father Bakhomious was born in Aswan in 1963 and has a degree in Science and education. He is considered the youngest candidate in the list.
• Father Serafeem Al Sorian from the monastery of Virgin Mary in Wadi Al Natroon. Father Serafeem was born in 1959 in Cairo and has a degree in science from the University of Ain Shams.He serves in the church in the United States.
• Bishop Raphael, the auxiliary Bishop of Central Cairo and Heliopolis as well a former aide for late Pope Shenouda III and member of the Holy Synod. He was born in 1954 in Cairo and graduated from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Medicine. He was ordained as a bishop in June 1997.He is the most famous candidate.
• Bishop Tawadros, the general bishop of El Bahaira who was born in 1952. The member of the Holy Synod was graduated from the faculty of Pharmacy, University of Alexandria. He was ordained as a Bishop in June 1997.

Last week there was a small news nobody cared to read or follow up despite it was extremely alarming.
Unknown group torched two CSF vehicles parked in Tahrir square , lucky nobody was harmed last 9/10.
Nobody claimed responsibility until we found that video online title “Hooligans , operation No.0 : Torching the CSF vehicles on 9/10/2012 on a YouTube channel called “Arab Anonymous” {The channel was made on December 4th ,2010}

From the computerized narrator reading a perfect Arabic in inhuman way and the Vendetta King Tut’s picture , we know that they are claiming to be anarchists. According to that message that reminded us with Anonymous’ video message , we knew that group is just testing its power , this is training “Somebody could have been killed”

Yo Muslim Brotherhood , Muslims should not lie !!

The Muslim brotherhood is now claiming that they got no members in the square during the sorrowful clashes and that those people are attacking the Non Islamist forces and parties are more of Morsi’s supporters. It started with the young Muslim brotherhood members in Cairo and Giza who revealed that they got orders from the Guidance office to meet at Tahrir square at 5 PM before heading to the public prosecutor’s office denying that that the members of the brotherhood are in the square. Then leading MB member Mahmoud Ghozlan also claimed that there are no MBs in the square. Now the International English account of the Muslim brotherhood “@Ikhwanweb” is repeating this claim too

#Oct12 : Protests , Rallies , Speeches and Clashes too !!

What I fear most  , happened in Tahrir square.
The Muslim brotherhood's supporters along with other Islamists like Al Gama’a Al Islamiyya have attacked the supporters of other Non Islamist forces in Tahrir square after the prayers forcing them to leave it.
There was one stage in Tahrir square said to be owned by Al Wafd Party that attacked Morsi and The supreme guide after the prayers. Couple of Morsi’s supporters attacked the stage destroying it and attacking the speakers and their supporters. Morsi supporters chanted “ Bread , Freedom and Morsi got men in his back”. They also chant Islamist slogans claiming that the revolution is Islamist and Support Your God and the Sharia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Tahrir : Why not to have two protests instead of one !!

On Friday Tahrir square will not witness a single hopeful million man protest but two million man protests !! oh yes two protests from two opposing powers mainly : MB and Non-MBs or to be more accurate the Islamists and Non Islamists as it seems. It looks so January 25th first anniversary in Tahrir square !!
Simply we got two protests.
The first protest which is the original was planned by non Islamists to protest the constituent assembly right after the end of the 100 days project period of President Morsi in order to give him his full opportunity.
Now the demands of this protest according to what I understood from posts and statement issued by parties and movements organizing and participating in the protest :

• A Constitution that represents all Egyptians with their diversity reflecting the demands of the revolution .
• A minimum and maximum wage limits
• Lowering the prices of commodities.
• Allowing independent unions and syndications.

There will be marches from all over Cairo and Giza from the mosques rallies and marches used to be headed from to Tahrir square like Mostafa Mahmoud Mosque and square that will witness the main rally to Tahrir square.
Despite initially April 6th youth Movement “Ahmed Maher” declared that it was not going to participate in the protests because “it wanted to give the president and the government an opportunity” and “Fears from burning the protests card” , I knew that the members had the freedom individually to join the protest. Of course I said that this was the movement’s initial decision , things are different as you will know later.

And we got rid from the Public prosecutor after nearly two years of demanding this at last. President Morsi has asked Abdel Maguid Mahmoud if he is willing to be re-assigned as Egypt’s ambassador in the Vatican and to leave his position as the public prosecutor in Egypt.
Mahmoud’s assistant Judge Adel El Sayid is appointed as the acting public prosecutor.
Morsi can’t fire Mahmoud according to the law thus he found this legal exist after nearly 6 hours meeting with judge  Mekki brothers “His VP and minister of justice” , Judge Hossam El Gheriany “Head of Supreme council of judiciary , head of National human rights council and head of constituent assembly and PM Qandil to discuss the implications of yesterday’s battle of the camel’s trials verdicts.
There is no wonder that Mahmoud had no other option except to accept the offer and even to pray that the Vatican would accept him as an ambassador as the small yet influential state rejected Egypt’s last nominated ambassador as it considered one of Mubarak’s remnants. Mahmoud knows that he is unwanted now , the Muslim brotherhood and April 6 Youth are protesting against him. Today April 6 youth protested downtown against him
Anyhow the court’s verdict yesterday in the battle of the camel’s trial is not the mistake of Mahmoud but rather the ministry of justice and the magistrates.
People are praying now , especially in the revolutionary sphere that Judge Zakaria Abdel Aziz would be chosen as Public prosecutor. I highly doubt it because Abdel Aziz is independent Nationalist person whom the MB will not like.
I hope that this decree would make the MB do not go and protest tomorrow in Tahrir square because I do not want any clashes there.
Now many people from Non Islamists fear that this decision will be the start of Muslim brotherhood full control on judiciary , well I am afraid the removal of Abdel Maguid Mahmoud has been an old revolutionary one since the 18 days. The man is not good and was an accomplice in hiding Mubarak’s regime crimes through out the past years. Hell there are files and cases that have been closed by this man that need to be opened !!
Again the position of public prosecutor is just like the President , unlike what the MB thinks, it is not a picnic or just a powerful position.

Update : 

Judge Abdel Maguid Mahmoud announced that he refused to leave his position and won't resign !!!! This is a big slap to the president and his legal team !! Not the first slap though !! The Judges club that can not stomach MB announced their solidarity with Abdel Maguid !!This is headache

As if we need more depressing news , sorry shocking news per day !!
This evening the court has acquitted all the defendants in the battle of the camel case from all charges. Yes after nearly two years all the 24 defendants  in the case including Safwat El Sherif , Fathi Sorour and Abu El Einin and Ragab Hamida !!
According to the reasoning of the court headed by Judge Hassan Abdullah , the witnesses can not be trusted because of them are the political opponents of the defendants !! Judge Abdullah only trusted the testimony of  former General Hassan El Roueini , the former commander of the Central zone who claimed that he had not see any dead body in Tahrir square.
Officially 11 were killed and 2000 were injured in this horrible attack that was filmed by almost the whole world and Judge Abdullah only trusted the testimony of Hassan El Roueini!!?? History is being forged.
I can not believe it !! I am so angry. Who killed those protesters ?? Who gave the orders to the riders of Nazlat El Saman ?? Who brought the broken ceramic plates to the assailants ??
The public prosecutor has appealed the court order and issued a statement about the verdict. Already the public prosecution office is under fire as it is being blamed for giving the court weak evidence to support the case against those defendants. The prosecution office is defending itself and announced through an unnamed source to MENA that it is not responsible for the investigations of the battle of the camel. It turned out that the minister of justice then “I will check who he was” gave orders to Cairo Appeal Cairo to assign a magistrate to investigate it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everybody is blaming them including presidency indirectly ,  Muslim brotherhood and some political figures in Egypt already.

#Maspero : Cairo's Via Dolorosa a year later

Via Dolorosa is the way of pain in Christianity and I think for many Egyptian Christians , Via Dolorosa is the way from Shubra to Maspero on the black October 9,2011. Today is the very anniversary of the terrible Maspero massacre where 28 civilians were killed and not less than 212 were injured after clashes with military police forces. Those civilians were Christian citizens protesting peacefully at Maspero building.

Today activists and parties are reviving the bad memory by having a rally from Shubra to Maspero from 4 PM to 6 PM. Christian movements like Maspero Youth Union are organizing the rally. The Popular Current coalition as well the April 6th Youth movement and Constitution party are participating in the rally that will include many activists and prominent figures in Egypt. Mosireen will present a date show on the walls of Maspero like in the old good days where the famous Citizen journalism organization will present its documentary about Maspero Clashes. 

Regarding Morsi’s Pardon

President Morsi has officially pardoned all citizens arrested and convicted since January 28th ,2011 till June 30th,2012 “date of his inauguration” in front of military courts including the April 8th officers. This pardon is for all those crimes related to the revolution and do not ask me what these crimes are. The pardon will include only those are arrested in clashes like Mohamed Mahmoud , the Cabinet HQ.. etc.
You must know that the number of those convicted in front of military trials was already nearly 2700 after all the pardons throughout the last two years.
Why do I say some how triumph ?? Because actually this pardon will not include all the military trials convicted prisoners who should have a second chance in front of civilian courts. “I do not say that they should be released”
According to Mona Seif who launched the No for military trials campaign , this pardon is for the protests and riots related charges and not the random arrests that followed January 28,2011 where many citizens were arrested and charged of thuggery and other criminal charges in front of military trials.
Again as matter of justice they should stand re-trial in front of their judge, civilian judge.
I hate to say it but I feel that this decree is more of a bone thrown to that revolutionary class in order to cover the failure of the 100th Days program. “That was actually a challenge the MB created for themselves and nobody forced them to do”
Already there was a committee formed by presidency that includes human rights activists from two months ago regarding the military trials and it issued its recommendations in mid September 2012 to release the prisoners so why wait till October 8th !?
This decree actually will not please the public or make them angry , again it is targeted to specific class.
Now am I happy ?? Well I am glad that there are innocent  people who are free and pardoned but I am not yet happy as there is constitution drafted in limbo , there is some sort of volcano that will erupt sooner or later in Sinai and there are Christians displaced from their homes each week !! This will not make forget or ignore that circus in the stadium last October 6,2012.
By the way expect sooner or later Tantawy and Anan may face jail terms.

Regarding Sinai's latest death incidents

This post is just to clarify things as rumors as usual spread like fire in the Egyptian social networks and soon enough myth becomes a reality especially with non-stop hysteria we live in currently in Egypt.
First there are two accidents in North Sinai today October 8/10/2012
The first one : Police force securing a truck delivering money to NBE bank in Al Arish was attacked by two militant masked men on a motorbike. The result of that attack : One officer was killed , one was injured and one gunmen was hit and died from his injuries unfortunately. 
The second one : A CSF transport carrying over 40 CSF conscript near the Egyptian Israeli borders crushed today. The Ministry of health announced officially the death of 22 conscript and the injury of 24 conscripts. At least 8 conscripts died while they were being transferred in ambulance from the location of the crash to Al Arish hospital. The army sent its helicopters to transport the victims of the crush to Cairo. 
Now there is a confusion that came from the fact that the dead and the injured of both accidents were transferred to the same hospital.

Personally I was shocked when I heard the death toll and started to made a connection between it and those warnings about possible operations in Sinai against security forces by Jihadists on the occasion of October war. Of course if you remember in recent years we had series of terrorist attacks at the same time we have got national occasions in Sinai. Still I use my mind and I know that roads in Sinai are hell and the CSF transport trucks are actually the bigger version of sardine cans. Let's face the fact that CSF conscripts , in fact conscripts in police and army face inhuman conditions.

Will Mama Maggie be the Fifth Egyptian to win a Nobel Prize ??

Mama Maggie Gobran can be the first Egyptian woman as well the Fifth Egyptian to win the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2012 according to news reports. 
Maggie Gobran whom most Egyptians do not know at all , is a Christian Orthodox nun that head a NGO called "Stephens' Children" which focuses on improving the lives of Christian poor families living in Cairo as well rural communities in Egypt.
Gorban , who comes from a high middle class in Upper Egypt used to be a Computer science teacher in Cairo University and AUC. In 1989 Maggie Gobran who is being labelled as Egyptian Mother Teresa  became a Nun.
Her NGO is currently helping not less than 250,000 families and it includes 1500 volunteer.
If Gobran wins , she will be the first Egyptian woman as well first Christian Egyptian to win the Nobel peace Prize.
President Sadat, Naguib Mahfouz , Ahmed Zewail and Mohamed ElBaradei have already won Nobel prizes for Peace , literature , Chemistry 

#6OCT73 : Wings of Wrath “Part-1”

After sharing Shady Abdel Salam’s “The armies of the sun” with you , I would like to share this very special documentary produced independently about the heroic achievements of the Egyptian air forces from 1967 to 1973 war. Unlike what you think , this documentary does not glorify Mubarak , on the contrary it focuses on the heroes of the Egyptian air forces that Mubarak did not want the public to know in order to keep the credit of heroism to himself.

From artistic point of view , this documentary is great considering the fact that it was produced independently by group of youth. This film is the product of the amazing “Group Historians 73” work for years in reviving the unknown history of October 73 war that Mubarak buried under “his first air strike”.
The documentary features Ahmed Kamal Al-Mansoury by the way. This part , which is the first speaks about the Egyptian air forces right after the six days war defeat. The six days war defeat already nearly destroyed the EAF. It was another achievement to rebuild that quickly despite our resources in that time.
The second part of the documentary will be aired publicly on October 21,2012. The film is made of 6 parts as far as I know and it costed its filmmakers about LE300,000. The producers are not artists or anything but normal Egyptians.
If you watch History Channel’s “Dogfights” will like this documentary. Unfortunately it has not been translated but I think our boys will work on translating it.

Scene no.1 : The new NDP is there

It is a cultural heritage thing that goes back to the days of ancient Egyptians , the ruler of this country , this land is a pharaoh that should be idolized. It is a challenge to change this habit in just two years.
Tens of thousands , nearly 30,000 Egyptians attended Morsi’s speech or rather the armed forces’ celebration of October’s war at Cairo Stadium. It was allegedly open invitation event but unfortunately it was only open to certain parties and groups only according to journalists and witnesses .. as well evidence on our screen.

#6Oct73 : Shady Abdel Salam's Armies of the Sun

Do not ask why we have not heard about this documentary except after the January revolution, do not ask why because I do not know why except that Mubarak did not want anything to be featured in the media in the war except his airstrike.

The documentary below is called “Armies of the Sun” and it was directed by Shady Abdel Salam. “Yes, the Shady Abdel Salam of the Mummy aka The Night of Counting the Years."

“Armies of the sun” was the name of the Egyptian armies during Ancient Egypt,  which was Abdel Salam's main fascination and interest.

It was produced in 1975 and it focused only on the soldiers, their memories from 1967 to 1973 from veterans and injured as well as former POWs. It is a must-watch.

Happy #6Oct Dear Egypt

Happy 6 October war anniversary dear Egypt and Egyptians. Happy anniversary to all our great warriors who fought today to restore our stone dignity and land. This year aside from honoring Sadat and El Shazly , people began to realize that this war is no longer owned by commander but rather the unknown officers and soldiers who fought in the field.

When I read more about this war and this attack , I feel paralyzed in front of the greatness of the Egyptian people especially when I read the chronicles of the soldiers and their memories whether in those tough 6 years or in October 1973. These years , these people and that war gives me hope regardless what.

6 October 2012

Today El Shazly joined the faces recorded on Mohamed Mahamoud Graffiti walls.I hope that the governorate does not erase it.

Amazingly Mubarak and Shafik orphans are attacking El Shazly.
Speaking about Mubarak , Ibrahim Eissa’s latest Op-ed about honoring him as a 1973 hero and it is creating controversy. Personally I am totally against ignoring or forgetting his role in 1973 otherwise we will be falling the same mistake of his regime. Personally I believe Mubarak himself erased his role in 1973 when what he had done in those 30 years including his ill treatment to the 1973 veterans.
The debate about the war and whether it was a victory or not is still there. Personally I believe it is a victory and I will not go in to a debate about this. I had enough from this discussion every year.
Now at 2 AM CLT the Egyptian army will start its celebrations all over the country including air shows and so on. President Morsi will attend the celebration at Cairo Stadium and will address the nation at 6 PM. According to MB journalists he will speak mainly about his 100 days program. The MB delegation will include the supreme guide and for the first time since his ousting in August 2012 Hussein Tantawy , the former minister of defense will appear publicly in the event.
May Allah bless the soul of all those made that day possible.

Trouble in Salafist Heaven “Part 3” {Updated}

This is my third post about what is happening in the Salafist Al Nour party from a spilt that could a very quick end to the once most successful Islamist Party in Egypt after the Muslim brotherhood’. You can my first part and second part in order to be in the loop. Update: Late Friday Nader Bakkar announced that Emad Abdel Ghafour temporarily back as the leader of the party till its elections next Thursday !!

MB Vs.Salafists : Dear we are all rascals !!

Where does the Muslim brotherhood stand from that ugly bad fight in Al Nour Party ??
Already the MB is accused of standing behind this crack in Al Nour while I do not know about how much the MB members stand between this , I know that Emad Abdel Ghafour is the President’s assistant but there are other members of Borhami’s front is his advisors team as well the Constituent assembly .  Nevertheless it seems to me that MB somehow is standing with Abdel Ghafour despite he may not be the strongest party in the fight, they may lose the bet.
Right after the disgraceful confession of Yasser El Borhami that he met Ahmed Shafik along with Ashraf Thabet and Abdel Moneim El Shehat during the presidential elections , the MB leaders and members began to attack Borhami and his company. In defense some leaks began to surface from the Salafists that also the MB leading members held meetings with Shafik as well.

#Syria : Save those Children “Graphic”

Aside from the daily killings in Syria targeting children and aside from the displacement tragedy , the Syrian children inside Syria are suffering from the lack of medical services and food supplies.
It is a catastrophic by all measures and I believe regardless of what is going on the ground , the international humanitarian organizations should interfere now more than ever.
Already there are horrifying photos showing sick kids who look more of skeletons than human beings in scary scene like the scene of that kid form Hama below. “Warning : Graphic”

President Morsi was the commander of the great October victory !! How come !? Last time I checked Morsi was not a commander or officer of even a solider in Egyptian army during the October1973 war !! He was a student !!
We got this disease , ancient one to be precise : Hypocrisy. Indeed we do , it is part of our old ruler’s idolism.

#Egydocstrike : The doctors' strike is still on

Today is the fourth day in the Doctors' partial strike in Egypt in the public hospitals following the ministry of health. The doctors continue in their strike despite the war declared on them by the ministry of health and official media. I fear that the media , the official media is biased against the strike and is trying to turn the people against it.I feel they have already done it !! They do not mention the whole truth to the public in Egypt. The Strike´s committee is trying to gather signatures enough in to refer the minister of health Mostafa Hamed as a doctor to the disciplinary committee in the Doctors' syndicate for violating the General assembly's order to have a partial strike and ordering doctors to break it.
